Pause Please!

0 how I long for quiet
Away from all the Noise
The jangling of the doorbell,
And 'come-at-once' ring of telephone!
The demands that people make, though kindly meant
But pressing in their need for my attendance.
I should be glad, and so I am That friends are all around,
Loving me, needing me, But I need a quiet time,
Set aside to think and pause,

Pause Please!

And muse upon my life, Which rushes by!
I need to heed the warning bell Which rings within my head.
'Stop! Be still! Wait, pause awhile,
Take stock of life which Still belongs to you.
0 time! Wait while I can get My breath
To look around and view
The Past, the Present and Yes, the future too!
A pause is all I need For sweet reflections.
To get my breath, And even sleep!
